Winter Sun and Nature Retreat in Nicaragua
1st Annual Winter Retreat in Nicaragua / Merav Ben Horin and special guest Yotam Silberstein
Join Merav for her first warm winter retreat in Nicaragua! Escape the cold winter and come recharge, renew and rejuvenate on the gorgeous grounds of Apoyo Lodge located on the shore of the Laguna de Apoyo. Surrounded by a tropical dry forest and the pristine and healing waters of the beautiful crater lake (coined as the cleanest water in the country and possibly the whole of Central America!) Apoyo Lodge make it a perfect place for yoga, hiking, swimming, meditation and deep relaxation! We will focus on restoring and centering the body and the mind. This week will be a journey to finding profound peace inside and out by connecting to nature, breath, music and movement.
This yoga retreat is open to all levels. Each practice will have a different theme that will guide you on your exploration on the mat. Our classes take place outside facing the lake and the mountains!
Daily Practice
Every morning I will offer an optional 1/2 hour pranayma and meditation practice for early birds.
The first class of the day will be more vigorous. I will offer options for those of you who are newer to this practice or those of you who want to take it slower and plenty of challenges for those who would like to be challenged. The evening class will be gentle and restorative.
Yoga & Live Music
This year again I have a special musician guest on the retreat that will join us for a class or two and accompany the class with live soft guitar and oud sounds. In these classes we will explore the connection between yoga, music and breath and use these tools to move into a deeper state of awareness and relaxation.

More about Appoyo Lodge
Apoyo Lodge is a Health and Wellness Boutique Hotel and Private Retreat Space, located on the shore of the Laguna deApoyo, Nicaragua. The Lodge sits on over an acre of property deep within the tropical dry forest of the nature reserve, just footsteps away from the the pristine healing waters of the Lagoon, which was formed over 20,000 years ago, when a volcano inploded in itself instead of out. The Lagoon makes for a very special and unique natural environment, with many fish species endemic to it. The Lodge is constructed from local Nicaraguan materials; the ceilings and beams through out the lodge are composed of guadua bamboo, all windows and doors are royal cedar and the floors are laid with traditional wood-fired clay tiles. There is also a two storey yoga deck, with space for massage therapies, as well as a traditional Nicaraguan Rancho that serves as a Juice and Smoothie Bar.
We have an open kitchen for our guests to enjoy what we cook and to learn the kind of ingredients we use. Our meals are 100% plant based and gluten free, with dishes inspired from global cuisine and adapted to Nicaraguan produce. We aim to use as much as organic produce we can, and we are also growing some of the vegetables and fruits onsite. We only cook with extra virgin olive oil and local raw coconut oil, as well as sea salt from the nicaraguan Coast. Local coffee and cacao are staples in our menu.
